LIVEWELL COMMUNITY NEWSLETTER #22

Happy Pride Month!

June is PRIDE month! Oregon’s older adult population continues to grow and become more diverse in race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, and gender identity. But unfortunately, Oregon's LGBTQ+ older adults are still largely invisible. They’re more likely than their heterosexual counterparts to live alone, without a partner, below the poverty level, and even experience discrimination. And yet they’re also more resilient. Take a look at the Oregon LGBTQ+ Older Adult Survey Report from Goldsen Institute and the Oregon Department of Human Services/Aging & People with Disabilities to learn more about what you can do.

Spotlight on: Leadership

We sat down with Cecilia Owsley of Guardian Angel Homes to learn what it takes to be an effective leader in long-term care. The short answer? “Every day you’ve got to drink a full cup of vulnerability followed by a shot of humility” Check out her video below – and sign up for our new leadership program, LeadWell, coming Fall of '22.
