They Ran the Race!
We Celebrate These Care Communities for Completing their Cohort!
This spring, three Oregon communities completed The LiveWell Method Virtual Learning Collaborative. Despite the challenges posed by persistent COVID-19 impact and staffing shortages, these communities committed themselves to implement this program and saw incredible results.
Learn a bit more about their experience below!
Conifer House Assisted Living
Conifer House focused its efforts on the Community Quality Board, a foundational LiveWell practice.
"On our Quality Board, we have one thing we really focused on tracking...like the falls, the location of falls, and the time of falls. Next to it we had call-offs to try to see if there is a correlation between falls and time of falls versus if we were short-staffed that day...We definitely have a fall issue on the graveyard shift where we have less staff, so that's one thing we're going to be working on. Because 80% of our falls are happening between 10 pm and 6 am. Definitely, something we identified there -- that we need to add another staff member to our memory care unit at nighttime."
Mt. Bachelor Memory Care
The Mt. Bachelor team shared that they have a Community Quality Board (CQB) that has a "hiker" going up a mountain to demonstrate progress as a creative way to engage staff and their brand. They also enjoyed the process of building the CQB, involving residents and staff!
River Grove Memory Care
"We've been really short-staffed, up to eight caregivers, and so we realized that some of our care staff picked up 104 extra shifts and we really wanted to show how much they are putting into River Grove. And that we can't really keep going without a good, solid team, whether we're short or not."
"I also think that getting the tracking tool up now that we can have multiple months of tracking, [staff] can see where we're improving and not improving as well."
